What I Eat In a Day
Hey Everyone! Happy Spring, and Happy Hump Day. "Really? It's only Wednesday?" YES. I know. We dread the middle of the week. Sometimes it feels like the slowest. We'll get through it. I promise.
Anyways, today I decided I show you what I typically eat on a regular day. Remember, I'm a stay at home mom, so I guess there's a plus to not having to leave the house and having the temptation of going to Chick-fil-A, or In-N-Out, but it does mean I have to slave in the kitchen. I try my best to have the simplest and easiest meals during the day and try to have a "slave in the kitchen" moment just for dinner. I come from a Hispanic background, and we go IN on dinner. Rice and beans, pork, chicken, pastas, plantains, etc., so I strive to eat the least calories that I can during the day so I can eat dinner without worrying about going over my calories.
So here you go, What I Eat In A Day. 😊
(Keep in mind, this is what I typically eat on a REGULAR DAY, in no way am I saying this is what you should be eating, and most importantly I am not saying, that everything that I mention in this post is HEALTHY. Remember, I am a beginner, I will get better.)
Total Calories for the day: 1,700.
BREAKFAST:
What is a morning without COFFEE?
I absolutely have to have a cup of coffee in the mornings. My day just isn't the same without it. The Brand that I use is "Cafe Bustelo".
To it, I add 1/4 cup of 2% milk, which is 30 calories, and 4 teaspoons of sugar, 60 calories.
A total of 90 calories.
I drink my coffee first thing in the morning but I don't eat right away. I like to use the hype of the caffeine to do things around the house or work out. Today, I drank coffee at around 11:00 am and made my breakfast at around 1:00 pm.
I absolutely LOVE eating eggs for breakfast. Did you know that the yolk of an egg is 55 calories and the egg white is only 17 calories? Yeah. Egg whites for me, please! So I cut up my onions and green bell peppers and sauteed them in the pan so they can cook. I then added 1/2 cup of liquid egg whites and added those wonderful seasonings that make every food delicious. I cant stand when people choose to season their food with just salt and pepper. I need it ALL 😆 So for this dish I seasoned the eggs with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. While that cooked, I made 2 strips of turkey bacon, which by the way have become the love of my life. No kidding. I had no idea how great it tastes. I topped the eggs with crushed red pepper and Sriracha which I am convinced I can put on EVERYTHING. 🤣🤣
I had all of this with a banana, lemon water, and of course my favorite show in the world, The Real.😍
With a total of 217 calories. 👍
SNACK;4:30 pm:
I am a huge snacker. If I'm not eating my meals, I'm munching on something, and one thing I love to munch on is dried cereal. I was with my son and boyfriend running some errands so I decided to take it on the go.
I had 1/3 cup of Honey Bunches Of Oats which was 90 Calories, and lemon water.
7:00pm- LUNCH...lateeee lunch. 😁
After we got back from running errands, you can only imagine how hungry I was! I wasn't in the mood to cook anything, especially so late, but luckily, we had leftover white rice in the fridge. I like to cook a lot more rice than what I need so I can save it for meals throughout the week, and so that it's easier to make my boyfriend's lunches for work. It's a real time saver. So what I did for my late, late lunch was put a cup and a half of Ice burg lettuce in a bowl, I then added a half a cup of rice (84 calories). Then, I topped it with 1/3 cup of green beans (15 calories), 1/3 cup of corn (26 calories) and 2 tablespoons of Balsamic Vinaigrette. All for just 176 calories. This is one of my favorite things to eat, whether its for lunch or dinner. It's so easy to prepare and it's SO FILLING!
7:28 pm SNACK:
Always after dinner/lunch I always crave something sweet.
These are my most favorite cookies in the worlddd! They are caramel, coconut, and fudge cookies. These hit the spot every time I crave something sweet. I ate two, but then couldn't help myself and ate a third. (195 Calories) but this is why I love eating low calories. I would have so many calories left over, that I can go ahead and eat an extra cookie and not feel bad about it. I don't like to limit myself as to what I can eat and what I can't eat. You should be able to eat whatever you want, whenever you want. but in MODERATION.
So altogether, so far, at 7:30 pm, I have eaten 768 calories. I was convinced I was done for the day... NOT.
9:47 pm, Even later DINNER:
I know what you're thinking. "She should be eating so late." Trust me I know, but when you're hungry, YOU'RE HUNGRY. Plus I have 932 calories left over.
I know it's not something that's super healthy, I should have opted for just the banana, and maybe some pineapple, but because I had only had 2 full meals today, I didn't think it was right to skip dinner. So I made a turkey sandwich with a banana (well half of the banana because Kayden thought it was okay to come up to me while I was eating it and grabbed half of it right out of my hands 😂) and of course lemon water.
(295 calories)
Late Night Snack:
Again, the sweet tooth was bugging.
So I helped myself with 2 servings of dry Golden Grahams Cereal. (240 Calories)
All together, on this day, I have eaten a total of 1,302 calories with 403 calories leftover and I also consumer 48 ounces of water.
I love keeping track of what I eat because I can then look back and and see where I can better myself. For 1, I can eat earlier so that I'm not forced to eat anything late at night. My goal is to not be able to eat anything past 9:00 pm. And 2, my snacks can be a lot healthier like, celery and hummus, apples and almond butter, etc. It's a learning experience!
For some people counting calories isn't for them, but it's working for me, and it has helped me make better choices. Trust me, if not, I would have been eating a whole family size of Ranch Doritos as a snack.
Well guys, I hope you enjoy the rest of your week!
--Sincerely, Jess M. 💋
